Important News for Non Members who order 10 rings. As from the 1st Jan 2022 every Non Member who orders just 10 rings will now have to have them sent to your address by next day Royal Mail service at a cost of £6.50,this will be compulsory no if,s or buts, and the same for any one living in a flat as an address. This is because we are getting 85% of these orders going missing and the non member then demanding their money back as they say they have not got the rings. This is very hard to belive so to protect every one this is the way they will be sent out.We find this way suprise suprise nothing goes astray and it does not cost the IOA extra money.
The IOA are pleased to accept The British Gouldian Finch Club to there affiliation scheme for 2021.
NEW INFORMATION FOR MEMBERS WHO PLACE ORDERS FOR ID CODE RINGS PLEASE NOTE THESE TAKE 3 WEEKS TO GET FROM BELGIUM AND NOW DUE TO BREXIT THEY ARE HELD UP IN UK CUSTOMS FOR A LENGHT OF TIME TO PASS OUR RULES,SO PLEASE WAIT YOUR TURN OR PLACE YOUR ORDER EARLIER AND STOP PUTTING THE BLAME ON THE RING SEC.
WORLD SHOW JAN 2021 PORTUGAL. COM-UK NEWS.
THE COM-UK COMMITTEE HAS DISCUSSED BY EMAIL THE POSSIBILITY OF PARTICIPATION AT THE 2021 WORLD SHOW IN PORTUGAL BUT AGREED UNANIMOUSLY NOT TO PARTICIPATE.THIS WAS BECAUSE OF THE COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS ON TRAVEL AND THE POSSIBILITY OF QUARANTINE ON RETURN FROM PORTGUAL.THE VULNERABLE AGE GROUP OF MOST MEMBERS OF COM-UK MANAGERMENT COMMITTEE WAS ANOTHER FACTOR AND MOST WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO ATTENED THE SHOW.ANOTHER FACTOR AS WELL AS THE FACT THE UK WILL BE OUT OF THE EU BY THE END OF THIS YEAR AND DEFRA HAVE STILL NOT FINALISED ALL THE REGULATIONS ABOUT TAKING BIRDS OUT OF THE COUNTRY AND THEN RETURNING WITH THEM.IN ADDITION OUR CURRENT CONVEYOUR WAS UNABLE TO TAKE 5 WEEKS TIME OFF WORK TO MAKE THE JOURNY AND BE AT THE SHOW.ALL FACTORS PLUS UNCERTAINTIES HAVE MADE THE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE DECIDE NOT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE 2021 WORLD SHOW BUT WILL LOOK FORWARD TO PARTICIPATING IN SPAIN IN THE 2022 SHOW HOPEFULLY ALL THESE UNCETAINTIES WILL HAVE BEEN RESOLVED.
ALSO,WE WOULD HAVE HAD TO PRESENT THE CASE FOR 3rd APPROVAL FOR THE LONDON FANCY CANARY AND FOR THE SAME REASONS ABOVE WE ASK YOU TO DELAY PRESENTATION TILL 2022 AS HUW EVANS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO TRAVEL TO PORTUGAL.
COM -UK WISH THE PORTUGUESE FEDERATION EVERY SUCCESS IN ORGANISING THE WORLD SHOW WITH OUR APOLOGIES FOR NOT PARTICIPATING.

It was also announced that following Brexit, the UK listed status application has been agreed by EU Member States after it met the animal health and biosecurity assurances required for a third country to export live animals and animal products.
There are no changes to the guidance for exporters. To export live animals to the EU the consignment will need to:
Apply for an EHC (Export Health Certificate)
Have the EHC signed by an authorised signatory, i.e. by an OV (Official Veterinarian) following an inspection of the consignment.
The consignment has to be accompanied by the original EHC and the self-certification by the breeder with the registered holding, and email a copy to your EU importer or agent to enable them to pre-notify the EU Border Inspection Post (BIP).
We must advise all our members to register their holdings with the veterinarian authorities with urgency to allow them to participate at event is the EU.

” ORDER OF MERIT AWARD “.
The Executive committee have decided the time is right for IOA members who have put a life times work into the IOA and the hobby should be rewarded. Our honoured members names will now go onto the ORDER OF MERIT shield. Each member will be given their own bespoke glassware which is theirs to keep.
To start the Merit shield off twelve members were put forward and all their work and achievements were discussed and agreed by the committee. Some have been in the hobby for over 60 years and have been with the IOA from the start in 1955.
For achievements to the British Bird world our first name is Bob Partridge, his knowledge makes him just about the most experience person in the UK and he is one of the few people still alive to have helped DEFRA with the 1981 Wildlife and Countryside Act. A great person, a “Breeder of a diverse range of both European and Foreign birds many of which are now not seen in aviculture, and also a BBC delegate.”
From the 1st of January 2019 to the 21st of January 2019 the IOA offices will be closed as we will be at the World Show in Holland.
No orders will be sent out until the 21st January.
