As from the 1st Sept 2013 the IOA  will be accepting payment from its members/non members for all its goods, membership and ring orders via the following credit/debit card forms of payment: VISA, Maestro,  MasterCard,  Paypal, Vpay. A new membership form and ring order form will be down loadable from our web site and they will also be issued in our Oct 2014 magazine to all fully paid up members.

Please note all IOA rings are made of Aluminium.

Colour Coded rings have been expanded to a six year cycle and those colours are:
2009 Violet, 2010 Orange, 2011 Dark Blue, 2012 Red, 2013 Black, 2014 Light Green.
From 2015 the cycle restarts with Violet etc.

Member societies are stronly reminded that when ordering rings from any manufracter to specify the exact ring colour and the Pantone/Ral codes to aviod any misunderstanding by ring manufactures.

For 2014 the colour for rings is Pastel Green,Pantone Code 344U, Ral 6019.

For 2015 the colour for rings is Violet,Pantone Code 249U,Ral 4008.

For 2016 the colour for rings is Orange,Pantone Code 1501U,Ral 2003.

For 2017 the colour for rings is Dark Blue,Pantone Code 301U,Ral 5019.
Depending on the species , birds are normally rung within the first 7 days before the bones in the foot have ‘set’.
To ring the chick you hold the chick in one hand and hold the leg with the fingers of the same hand holding the 3 forward toes together and the rear toe facing in the opposite direction to the front toes.

Step 1 – You then using your other hand, slip the ring over the front three toes.

Step 2 – Across the ankle and over the back toe.

Step 3 – The back toe is then released.
